World Food Safety Day 2024

Today marks World Food Safety Day, an occasion that underscores the critical significance of food production, packaging, and storage. With six years of global observance, World Food Safety Day continues to gain widespread recognition. Each year on the 7th of June, people worldwide unite to amplify the significance of food safety and enhance public understanding of this pivotal aspect. Shockingly, over 1,000,000 individuals fall ill daily due to unsafe or contaminated food.

This year’s focus is “Food Safety: Prepare for the unexpected,” designed to educate individuals on how to effectively handle potential food safety incidents, be they minor or severe. A food safety incident refers to any potential or confirmed health risk deriving from food, which can occur at any point in the supply chain, from producers to consumers. Therefore, it is imperative for all stakeholders to actively contribute to ensuring the safety of our food supply. Preserving the integrity of our food not only safeguards our well-being but also fosters long-term health benefits.
